The ACM minor is available as an elective to students who are enrolled in bachelor’s degree programs at Michigan State University.  With the approval of the department and college that administers the student’s degree program, the courses that are used to satisfy the minor may also be used to satisfy some requirements for the bachelor’s degree.

Students who plan to complete the requirements for the minor should consult the undergraduate advisor in the College of Arts and Letters (see advising path). As of Fall 2021, the minor has new requirements. If you began your ACM minor prior to Fall 2021, you may still continue on the previous requirements (see your advisor for the details).

Students must complete a minimum of 16 credits from the following:

  1. All of the following courses (7 credits):
    ACM 271 Introduction to Arts and Cultural Management (3)
    ACM 471 Arts & Cultural Management Seminar (3, taken at end)
    ACM 496 Arts and Cultural Management Internship (1)
  2. At least 3 of the following courses (9 credits):
    ACM 461 Financial Management and Planning in Arts,Cultural, & Museum Management (3)
    ACM 462 Marketing and Public Relations in Arts, Cultural and Museum Management (3)
    ACM 463 Event Production and Planning for Arts and Culture (3)
    ACM 464 Education and Outreach for Arts and Cultural Management (3)
    ACM 465 Leadership and Innovation for Arts, Cultural and Museum Management (3)
    ACM 466 Facilities and Operations for Arts and Cultural Management (3)
    ACM 467 Development and Fundraising for Arts, Cultural Management, and Museums (3)
    ACM 490 Independent Study (varies 1 to 3)
    ACM 491 Special Topics in Arts and Cultural Management (varies 1 to 3 )
    Other management-focused, arts and humanities courses including independent study, as approved by the minor advisor.
